Well August is history and although it’s been a lovely month, Nick was more than happy to see the annual Matthew Street mammoth music festival over and done with. It all kicks off on the Friday night before the August bank holiday weekend when people go home early from work and cane the ale on a city-centre binge, finally finishing sometime in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Now, whilst we are eternally grateful to our friends at the Cavern club for the business they put our way, we do have to endure the sticky foot syndrome for a week later, starting 9:20am on Tuesday when we navigate through the pools of dried stomach content and general debris of alcohol excess.

Our local bands didn’t fare too well this year which is a shame really, because we would personally loved to have heard “She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah!" and “How do you do what you do to me” once again.  Is it really possible to have too much home-grown talent?

But - and it’s a massive but; we may well have discovered some fringe benefits for those of you bored by the booze and glut of tribute bands. May we suggest that visitors consider the Harrington Street area where it is possible to spy clusters of scantily clad females, who seem intent on showing everything they’ve got to the thousands of visitors who flood in to hear the music of those lovable mop-topped Coleoptera. Rumour has it that Albie’s lad got stuck in a club there on his way to play on the Superitsthegearladlama stage and had to get our friend TS Night Rider to dep at the last minute! Naughty naughty Albie's lad >;-)
